La Salle alums Matt, Dave, Graham, and Scott, all with improv backgrounds, formed Pierre in November 2004. As a quartet, they performed shows in La Salle’s Dan Rodden Theater and at The Five Spot in Center City.
Graham left the group in ‘05, and the trio went on, performing at Helium Comedy Club and in the Philly Fringe Festival. Scott departed in ‘07; his last official act in the group was traveling to Ft. Lauderdale to film the web finale for the Project Breakout Comedy Competition, in which Pierre took 3rd place (Kent Haines came in 2nd!).
The Matt-Dave duo forged on, becoming finalists in the 2007 XBox Live Originals Contest with their Inventionors cartoon, which was screened at the 2007 New York Television Festival. The pair have performed at The Khyber, The Shubin, The Playground at the Adrienne, The M Room, Rembrandt’s Bar and Restaurant, Fergie’s Pub, The Loft, The Actors Center, The Kimmel Center, and as part of the 2008 Philly Independent Film Festival. They headline at Helium on a semi-regular basis.
Along with their manager, Ben Maher of Sunset Entertainment, Matt and Dave co-founded Philly Sketchfest, the city’s only sketch comedy
festival, in 2008.
Matt and Dave’s short film Previously on LOST earned them mention on WMMR’s Preston and Steve Morning Show, an article on Time Magazine’s Online Entertainment section, and a screening at the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con.
