Secret Pants is a Philadelphia’s oldest continuously active sketch comedy troupe. They formed in the spring of 2004, after meeting in a Temple University comedy writing class. They specialize in writing, producing, editing, and performing their own short video sketches, with over 60 to their credit. Their videos have been featured on FUSE Cable TV, in the Philadelphia Film Festival, on CollegeHumor.com, and on Comedy Central’s website, just to name a few. They produce a top 50 ranked podcast available on iTunes. In the summer of 2008, their “Bush or Batman” sketch received international attention, being featured on the Associated Press wire, FOX NEWS, the local CBS affiliate, and over 50 websites, all contributing to it becoming a viral smash on YouTube. They have been featured prominently in the Philadelphia Weekly, Philadelphia CityPaper, and Allentown Times newspapers, and on comedy website ComicVsAudience.com on a regular basis. They have conducted interviews on GTown Radio, Drexel University’s WKDU, the Dr. Keith Show, and Two Mustaches podcast, among others. In addition, they were the feature attraction at the 2006 West Chester Film Festival, hosting and producing hands-on workshops for those interested in film.
Secret Pants began performing their material live in 2005, and since that time they have taken their act to stages up and down the east coast. They have been featured attractions at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Philadelphia SketchFest, New York City’s Sketch This Festival, Atlantic City’s House of Blues, NYC’s People’s Improv Theater, and Maryland’s Mid-Atlantic Comedy Smorgasbord, among others. They have had the pleasure of opening for national comedians, including Bruce Bruce and Neil Hamburger. They are proud two-time winners of the “Dirtiest Sketch in Philadelphia” competition, nabbing top prize in 2007 and 2008. They are regular contributors to Philadelphia-area shows, including Bedtime Stories, Chip Chantry’s One Man Show, Die Actor Die, and the Ministry of Secret Jokes. They also produce and promote their own biannual comedy festival, “Welcome to the Terrordome,” at Johnny Brenda’s.
